Tutors


Lexi

I am a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Education with certification in English and psychology. I have taught in various schools in the Metro Detroit area and am currently a high school English teacher outside of Boston, Massachusetts. I began virtually tutoring with Belkin Tutoring in the fall of 2020 and have continued doing so from the East coast! With English content, I am able to help students with grammar, reading comprehension, and developing writing skills. I am able to work with students on English and writing based ACT tests. Additionally, I can aid with creating a work schedule and organizing homework for current completion and in getting back on pace with their coursework.

Julie

I obtained my Elementary Education degree from Oakland University and am certified to teach Kindergarten-8th grade. I taught Kindergarten for 8 years at a private school in Oakland County until the pandemic. After leaving my teaching position, Alyse and I began a preschool pod in my home where I taught a small group of children 4 days a week and I also tutored students in grades K-5th grade. I tutor a variety of subjects including; math, reading, and writing. I would love the opportunity to assist your child with homework, prepare activities to best support your child’s educational development, and help your child excel.

Ally

I am a rising Junior in the fall at the University of Michigan. I am available for tutoring across range of subjects. This includes any type of high school math, writing, literature, history, intermediate chemistry and physics. I can also help develop organizational skills when it comes to schoolwork management and studying! I have worked and still currently work with a range of students that vary from 3nd grade to 2nd year college students! I am flexible with scheduling, especially online!

Teresa

I am a graduate of Central Michigan University and a certified teacher in Michigan and Arizona. I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics at the high school level. Math education is more than solving equations, it is problem solve and logic skills that can be applied in all areas of life. I enjoy math because it allows us to explore the world in new ways. I love working with students and showing them that anyone can be successful in math. I am available for tutoring Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry.

Currently a Science Teacher at West Bloomfield High School. Currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership.

I am a certified 6-12 Spanish teacher in the state of Michigan. I work at Novi high school teaching Spanish 1 and 2 this year. I am able to support in Spanish, English and test prep for tests like IELTS and TOEFL

Aaron

Aaron comes from. long tradition of educators, and has experience teaching in a variety of different school systems, from public to private, and from middle school to university. He specializes in writing, history/social studies, test prep, executive functioning, and has experience tutoring middle school math and science.

Nic

20th year teaching. Teach at West Bloomfield High School. Qualified to teach any 6-12 math class. I currently teach PreCalc, AP Calc AB, and AP Calc BC. I know plenty of people that wish they would have paid more attention in math class. I’ve never met anyone that wishes they wouldn’t. Married for almost 14 years and have 3 kids, 12, 9 and 7.

Eve

I am a dedicated tutor specializing in application focused writing, middle school and high school English courses, and resumes/cover letters. I believe that being a strong, confident writer is crucial to success and I am able to connect quickly with students to help them to find their voice and communicate their ideas. I have extensive experience with supporting students through the college application process and am able to help students reflect on their experiences and craft an application that showcases their passions and skills through a compelling narrative. I have experience working with writers at all levels and am able to step in at any point in the process.

Currently a Science Teacher at Local High School. Have a Master of Arts in Teaching and Curriculum and a certificate in Educational Technology from Michigan State University. Jordan

I am a graduate from the University of Michigan with a degree in Biology. I am currently working towards a masters in Biomedical Engineering and applying to medical school. I have tutored elementary, middle school, high school, and college students for the past 6 years, including for the University of Michigan's Academic Success Program. I provide support for students in math, biology, chemistry, psychology, statistics, etc. and I also help students strengthen and improve executive functioning skills and strategies. I can't wait to help you/your student achieve academic success and a passion for learning like I have!

Maggie

I am a graduate from Michigan State University Honors College with a degree in behavioral neuroscience. I previously assisted in teaching biology courses through Lyman Briggs College and tutored student athletes. I am able to assist students of all ages in science and math based courses (biology, chemistry, psychology, ACT and SAT prep, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, statistics), while growing organization, time-management, test-taking, and comprehension strategies. I hope to empower students to develop skills that are effective in a classroom and 'real-world' setting.

Jessica

I graduated from the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology in 2019 with a degree in Movement Science and a concentration in Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring. I worked for 2 years at a pediatric neuro-oncology research lab before beginning medical school, where I am now, at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. I tutored throughout all of undergrad, with a focus on math and science. I have tutored at almost every level, from 2nd grade to graduate school. I am also able to assist students with college and graduate school applications, in addition to standardized test prep, organizational and note-taking strategies. I provide literacy support. I help learners develop reading comprehension, fluency and decoding skills and strategies. My favorite aspect of tutoring is that I get to help students develop a better relationship with school and learning. When they begin to understand things more clearly, or improve their organizational skills, they begin to express more excitement about their education. This excitement then lends to increased success. It is truly a privilege to work with every student I have, and I look forward to helping you/your child excel.

I am certified to teach kindergarten through eighth grade with an endorsement to teach early childhood. I have 15 years of teaching experience and have tutored children of all ages. My specialty is English Language Arts and writing. I love working with children and families. I can support your child as they develop the skills they need to be successful.

Omid

I am a graduate from the University of Houston with a degree in Biology and a minor in business. I completed dental school at the University of Texas School of Dentistry and am currently an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery resident. I provide support for middle school and high school students in math (algebra, geometry, SAT/ACT), biology, and chemistry. I also help students strengthen and improve comprehension and test taking strategies. Teaching has always been a passion of mine, and I am looking forward to helping be a part of your child’s success!

Coletta

Hello, my name is Coletta and I am a retired Elementary School teacher from the West Bloomfield School District. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Eastern Michigan University where I specialized in science, social studies, and art. I furthered my education with a Masters degree at Marygrove College. During my time as an educator, I participated in extracurricular activities to provide students with more opportunities to learn and strengthen their knowledge. I enjoyed co-leading Lego League (K-3rd grade) teams after school. I collaborated with the West Bloomfield High School Literacy Garden club: We created a Junior literacy garden at the elementary level that tied literacy into gardening and learning. When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my family and friends, especially with my daughters Brooke and Jessica. We love to go on adventures together where we travel and see the world!! I am looking forward to meeting you and helping your children grow in their learning!

Marissa

Hello! I am an energetic and creative educator, working to advocate for every student’s success. I graduated from Michigan State with my undergraduate degree and received my master’s degree in elementary education from Oakland University. I am certified to teach grades K-8 and have an endorsement in language arts. I have experience teaching many methods of reading and writing and I have received Orton-Gillingham training through IMSE (Comprehensive Plus and Phonological Awareness). These training sessions make me a very qualified tutor for students who are just learning to read, struggle with reading and phonics, have learning challenges, are learning English as a second language, or just want to become a stronger reader. Using this method will help students learn tools to improve spelling and become confident readers. I am skilled and experienced at supporting learners with executive functioning skills and strategies. Engaging students and supporting them in meeting academic expectations is my passion.

Elyse

Hi, I’m Elyse. I am certified in Secondary Mathematics (grades 6-12) as well as Learning Disabilities and Emotional Impairment (K-12+). For the past seven years, I’ve taught full-time in the metro-Detroit area as a high school math teacher. Prior to that, I taught for 3 years as a high school resource room (special education) teacher. I have also provided support to students for the past 5 years in middle school Math, Algebra 1, Geometry, and both standard and Honors Algebra 2. I specialize in working with students who are struggling, but have also enjoyed tutoring those trying to stay ahead. I love tutoring and am so happy to have so many opportunities to teach outside the classroom through Belkin Tutoring.

My name is Stephanie, and I graduated with a neuroscience degree from Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!). I am currently a medical student at Wayne State University. I have experience working as a teacher’s assistant for college level chemistry courses, so I am qualified to help those of you who need assistance with high school level chemistry. I’m also happy to tutor in courses such as biology, algebra, and psychology!

I am proud to have been a high school science teacher for 10 years. I am currently teaching at Royal Oak High School, where I have taught and built curriculum for many of our foundational science courses. I earned my bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Michigan State University, and my master's degree in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan. Most of my tutoring experience is in Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and some Chemistry. I consider my approach to be encouraging but structured. I primarily utilize the students' own classroom resources so they can build better study skills for their future years of learning.

My name is Taylor Celini and I’m a certified k-8 teacher. I am an elementary school educator, and most recently was a K-5 English Learner teacher.  I love providing support to students, and building their confidence and skills across all subject areas! I love making learning fun! I have three young sons and a husband with whom I enjoy spending my free time.

Susan

As an educator for over 25 years, I have been successful in teaching my students the skills they have needed to achieve their goals. I have a MA Degree in English and have two majors: English and French. I have taught English and French-all levels. I taught both subjects at Akiva Hebrew Day School and Berkley High School and have honed my teaching performance during that time. After retiring from teaching in the classroom, I began to tutor in many areas with the exception of Math. I also tutor students taking the ACT/SAT tests and have been successful in assisting my students reach their goals; often they exceed them. As a tutor, I have created new strategies for each subject that I teach, and I expand upon them, depending upon each student's needs. My students enjoy their sessions, and I enjoy helping them strive for success.

I'm an undergraduate student at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, pursuing a degree in Integrated Science, Environmental Science, and Hebrew Studies. I have been tutoring for 6 years now at a variety of levels in a variety of subjects, including chemistry, math, physics, and biology, as well as Hebrew and English. When necessary, I've also spent a great deal of time working with my students on developing techniques and skills for organization, time management, and goal setting. In my free time, I serve as president of my residential college, write for a small satirical publication, and act as a Northwestern Peer Advisor. I'm also a huge fan of Taylor Swift, Diet Coke, and A24.

I am dedicated teacher of over 17 years experience and currently a teacher at West Bloomfield High School.  I specialize in  Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB, and Personal Finance courses but can assist in any 6-12 math course.  I am also an AP Calculus AB Reader for the College Board.  I would love to assist you in any way to help boost your confidence in math and help you make those connections within your course.  I am also married for 12 years and have 3 amazing kids.

I have been in education since 2005. I am extremely passionate about my students getting what they need. My superpower is connecting with students and building strong relationships. I have taught in the general education classroom for 7 years and 13 years holding various roles in Special Education such as IEP facilitator, Resource Room, inclusion, and virtual IEP Consultant. I graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2005 and received my Master's Degree in Literacy from Adelphi University in 2008. I look forward to making a difference in your child's life!

I graduated from Baker College with  bachelors degree in secondary education, majoring in mathematics and a minor in social studies. Recently, I completed a Masters of Business Administration from Walsh college. Most of my 15 years of experience includes teaching secondary math in high school and working in adult education. I am Chaldean, so I can speak Aramaic and Arabic. My hobbies are traveling, puzzles/games, and watching movies.I have a passion for teaching and math. I would love to help your student succeed!
